What are the Sections and Uniforms?

 

  

Beaver Logo This is the youngest of the scouting sections, for those between 6 and 8 years of age, young people can join Beaver Scouts in the 3 months leading up to their 6th birthday at the discretion of the Leader.

Known as a Beaver Scout Colony, this group is easily recognisable by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts.  As with all the sections Beaver Scouts also wear a necker in the group colours.

Beavers have a range of badges & awards that they can achieve which will be provided by the Group & Leader, all of these badges have a special location which can be checked on the Beaver Uniform image to the right or downloaded from the attachments below.

Cub logo This is the second scouting section and caters for young people between the ages of 8 and 10½ years of age, like the Beaver section the Leader has some leeway / discretion on the starting & finishing age of Cub Scouts.

Known as a Cub Scout Pack, this group is easily recognisable by their green sweatshirts.  As with all the sections Cub Scouts also wear a necker in the group colours with their six identified by their woggle colour.

Cubs have a wide range of badges & awards that they can achieve which will be provided by the Group & Leader, all of these badges have a special location which can be checked on the Cub uniform image to the right or downloaded from the attachments below.

scout logo This is the third and final scouting section available within the 1st Basingstoke Group and caters for young people between the ages of 10½ and 14 years of age, the Leader has some leeway on the starting & finishing age of Scouts as do the other sections.

Known as a Scout Troop, the group is recognisable by their teal shirts with blue activity trousers and leather scout belt & buckle.  As with all the sections Scouts also wear a necker in the group colours.

Scouts have a very wide range of badges & awards that they can achieve which will be provided by the Group & Leader, all of these badges have a special location which can be checked on the Scout uniform image to the right or downloaded from the attachments below.

explorer logo This is the fourth scouting section and is organised & run on a District level, catering for young people between the ages of 14 and 18 years of age.

Within this section the Explorer Scouts can choose to become Young Leaders and help at one of the three sections listed above.  Within the 1st Basingstoke Group we have Young Leaders who assist in all three sections of our group.

Known as an Explorer Unit, the group wears a beige shirt with blue activity trousers and leather scout belt & buckle.

Like the other sections within scouting Explorers wear a necker in their group's colours (this will be different to 1st Basingstoke's colours).
